The Fascinating network of fascia
Each persons has, on average, between 18 and 23 kg of connective tissue.
This tissue :
- Stores a quarter of the total amount of water in the body
- Provides cells and organs with nutrients
- Responds to stress and strain, and adapts accordingly
- Continously regenerates itself, albeit slowly (it usually takes between 7 and 14 months for collagen fibres to be replaced)
- Increasingly loses water as we age
- Becomes matted with age and inactivity
